TEAM NEWS: TOWN vs BIRMINGHAM CITY

5 November 2016

Wagner makes three changes for clash with the Blues

- David Wagner makes three changes for Birmingham City game
- Sean Scannell, Michael Hefele & Jonathan Hogg start
- Mark Hudson & Dean Whitehead on the bench with Philip Billing

On his one year anniversary at the Club, Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner has made three changes to the starting XI for the Sky Bet Championship game against Birmingham City.

After missing games with a hip issue recently, winger Sean Scannell (pictured above) returns to the starting line-up this afternoon in place of the injured Harry Bunn (hamstring). It’s a first start since the defeat at Preston North End on 19 October for the long-serving attacker.

The second change comes at centre back, where popular German defender Michael Hefele comes back into the line-up. Hef replaces Club Captain Mark Hudson, who is among the substitutes today.

With Hudson a substitute, the captain's armband is taken by Tommy Smith today.

The third incoming into the team is Jonathan Hogg, who returns to the midfield engine room at the expense of Dean Whitehead having served a one match suspension last weekend.

There are two changes to the bench too this afternoon. There’s a first appearance in the match day squad this season for 20 year-old Danish midfielder Philip Billing, who replaces Ivan Paurević, whilst Joel Coleman is the backup goalkeeper today in place of Joe Murphy.

Nahki Wells starts up front; he’s making his 100th league start for Huddersfield Town today.
