Under-18s hit Leeds for five at Canalside

- Town’s youngsters beat Leeds 5-0
- Cedwyn Scott, Denilson Carvalho and Matty Daly on the scoresheet
- Highlights available on HTTV next week

After a superb second half performance in the pouring rain Huddersfield Town’s Under-18s beat Leeds United 5-0 in the Professional Development League.

In an evenly matched first half, Denilson Carvalho had the young Terriers’ best chance after just 15 minutes.

The attacking midfielder latched onto a long ball forwards and tried to lob the Leeds United ‘keeper. Carvalho’s audacious effort looped over the goalkeeper but went narrowly wide of the goal.

Town started the second half the strongest, putting into practice the new techniques they worked on in training with Professional Development Coaches Tony Carss and Leigh Bromby.

In the 55th minute the young Terriers broke the deadlock through Cedwyn Scott; a strike that sparked a flurry of the goals for Tony Carss’ side.

By the 58th minute Town were 3-0 up against Leeds United. Denilson Carvalho scored two goals in two minutes to put the youngsters in a dominant position.

Town began to dominate the game and Cedwyn added his second of the morning just five minutes later in the 63rd minute.

Substitute Matty Daly then finished the scoring 15 minutes before the end, to give Town a 5-0 win in the Professional Development League over their local rivals.

Highlights from the match will be available via HTTV next week.
