Striker starts, but Walsall knocked out
- An update on Jordy Hiwula's Walsall loan- Young striker starts Play-Off semi-final defeat
- Forward ends loan spell with three goals
Huddersfield Town striker Jordy Hiwula started Walsall’s Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off semi-final against Barnsley on Thursday evening.
The 21 year-old forward started up front for the Saddlers as they tried to overturn a three goal deficit from the first leg last weekend; Hiwula having come off the bench in the 71st minute of that game at Oakwell.
Jordy went very close to scoring for the home side in the first half last night, flicking a cross from Rico Henry inches wide of target, but in the end it was the Tykes who won 3-1 on the evening and 6-1 on aggregate to progress to the Wembley final.
Hiwula, who returned to Walsall on an Emergency Loan on 4 March, made a total of nine starts and six substitute appearances for the Club, scoring three times.
That adds to six goals in nine starts and seven substitute appearances for fellow League 1 side Wigan Athletic in the first half of the 2015/16 campaign in a previous loan.
Jordy joined the Terriers for an undisclosed fee from Manchester City in July 2015, signing a contract until June 2018.
