Huddersfield Town midfielder Dean Whitehead has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following an incident in Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Brentford.

Following a review of video evidence, a retrospective charge has been made against the 34 year-old for an incident involving Brentford midfielder Nico Yennaris in the 81st minute.

The incident was not seen by the match officials at the time, but Whitehead has subsequently been charged with Violent Conduct under FA Law 12.

The charge has been accepted by the Club and Whitehead will now serve an automatic three match suspension, ruling him out of the first three competitive games of the 2016/17 season.

Huddersfield Town can confirm that Dean will also be subject to its internal disciplinary procedures.
