SAM WARDE GETS IRELAND UNDER-18 CALL-UP

First international summons for Limerick native

- Sam Warde called up by Republic of Ireland Under-18s
- Midfielder in line to play friendly vs England
- First international summons for the 18 year-old

Huddersfield Town Academy midfielder Sam Warde has been called up to the Republic of Ireland’s Under-18 squad for an international friendly against England.

Head Coach Paul Doolin’s side will play England at the St. George’s Park facility in Staffordshire on Sunday 27 March; noon kick-off.

This is a first international summons for central midfielder Sam, who turned 18 years old earlier this month. Click HERE for the full squad and comments from Head Coach Paul Doolin on fai.ie.

Born in Limerick, Sam joined Huddersfield Town from Irish junior side Mungret Regional ahead of the start of the 2014/15 season.

Now in the second year of his two year scholarship, Sam has scored three goals in 22 starts and one substitute appearance for Town’s Under-18s this term, as well as making his Under-21 debut.

Warde is one of three Academy scholars who will be offered a first professional contract by the Club at the conclusion of the season.
