Seventh win in eight games for Academy side
- Under-8s beat Bristol City
- Seven goals in game at PPG Canalside
- Highlights on HTTV on Monday
A young Huddersfield Town Under-18 side came out victorious in an action-packed game against visitors Bristol City at PPG Canalside on Saturday morning.
Town, led by Professional Development Coach Leigh Bromby once again, fielded a very young side including two trialists; left back Spencer Myers from Everton and striker Javaan Campbell from Arsenal.
Under-16 players Ryan Schofield, Jordan Williams, Sam Gibson and Olly Dyson also started; a full debut for Dyson at Under-18 level.
It was a dream start for Arsenal trialist Campbell, who converted Dyson’s cross within the opening minute, but the tone of the game was set a couple of minutes later when Bristol City’s Jake Andrews beat Schofield with a low drive.
Andrews netted his second 14 minutes in after a defensive mix-up from Town, but the game was level at the interval when trialist left back Myers got forward to score off substitute striker Cedwyn Scott’s knock-down.
Town eventually took control in the second 45 minutes, scoring three goals without reply to secure a seventh win in eight games. Captain Jack Boyle scored the first in the 64th minute, smashing the ball home after a good move, before Irish midfielder Sam Warde (pictured above) made it four just two minutes later with an audacious shot.
Cedwyn Scott netted the final goal of the game with a minute left, sweeping the ball into the bottom left corner.
Highlights of the game will appear on HTTV on Monday!
