LOAN: JORDY HIWULA JOINS WALSALL

4 March 2016

Attacker leaves for the Midlands 31 May 2016

- Jordy Hiwula joins Walsall on Emergency Loan
- Attacker departs HTAFC until 31 May 2016
- Reaction from Head Coach David Wagner

Huddersfield Town’s Jordy Hiwula has today joined Sky Bet League 1 side Walsall on an Emergency Loan until 31 May 2016.

As per the terms of the loan, there is a recall available to Huddersfield Town after the initial 28 days has passed.

To date, his solitary appearance for Town’s First Team came as a 65th minute substitute in the Capital One Cup game against Notts County.

Since being recalled to Huddersfield on 1 February, he has made three starts for Frankie Bunn’s Under-21 side.

This will be Jordy’s second spell at Walsall; he scored nine goals in 17 starts and three substitute appearances during a loan spell from his former club between February and May 2015.

Led by Head Coach Sean O’Driscoll, the Saddlers currently sit third in the table; four points behind Wigan in the second automatic promotion place with a game in hand.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner explained:

“It was good for me to have a close look at Jordy in the last month, but I believe this opportunity is now the right one for him and us.

“Some players adapt faster to our new idea and identity than others; others need more time to do so. It is never easy to learn something completely new during the season.

“In this moment, it is better for Jordy to take the opportunity to play regular football in the First Team of Walsall. We have good possibilities in the positions he plays in, so this is not something I can offer him at this time.

“We will watch Jordy closely during his time at Walsall and work with him again in pre-season, when it is easier to learn our ideas.”
