There’s going to be a Kirklees College Takeover at Town Sky Bet Championship game at home to Burnley on Saturday 12 March.

Staff and students will be showcasing some of the courses on offer in various parts of the stadium before the match and at half-time.

The event will highlight upcoming open evenings at the college’s eight centres and also promote National Apprenticeship Week.

To celebrate, Town's Head Coach David Wagner met several Kirklees College students at PPG Canalside in the build-up to the game!

Public service students will be helping with stewarding, Peter Jones Enterprise Academy will be networking with business partners and hospitality students will be assisting with catering.

There will also be a dance from performing arts with Town mascot Terry the Terrier, music from an acoustic duo and animal care will be taking along some special friends to meet the crowds.

There will also be the chance for families to get creative in the family stand and take part in The Big Draw by making their mark on a huge picture wall.

Business students will be selling programmes and working in the retail store and travel and tourism students will be asking fans what their favourite thing is about Huddersfield that they would recommend to visitors, with the chance to win a prize.

There will also be a penalty shoot-out with the Sports Academy students at half time as well as construction, arts, photography and fashion displays.

Special films made for Huddersfield Town’s HTTV by media students from the college will also be showcased.

You can also find out about the college’s new Process Manufacturing Centre in Turnbridge Road, which opens later this year. There will be a hands-on demonstration with staff from the centre involving partners Nestle – as well as some free yummy treats for families.

Open days are on Tuesday 15 March at Huddersfield Centres including Engineering Centre, Highfields, Brunel Construction Centre and Taylor Hill animal centre and Hargate Hill equestrian centre in Glossop; and on Thursday 17 March at Dewsbury Centre and Batley School of Art. Both events run 5pm-8pm with last admission at 7.30pm.

It is a chance to come along, tour the facilities, speak to curriculum staff and find out about the wide range of courses on offer at Kirklees College including full-time and part-time courses and Apprenticeships.

You can pre-register to attend HERE.

National Apprenticeship Week runs from 14-18 March. Kirklees College offers the widest range of work-based learning opportunities to young people in Calderdale and Kirklees.

Apprentices do real jobs and earn while they learn. Building knowledge and skills on the job, they train in the workplace and gain a qualification at college.
