Huddersfield Town can confirm that it has today appointed Julian Winter as the Club’s new Chief Executive.
The Huddersfield-born 50 year-old, who played for the Club between 1984 and 1989, brings good knowledge of the football industry having previously held the role of Chief Executive at Watford, Sheffield United and most recently Notts County.
Julian will commence his new role at Huddersfield Town after the upcoming Easter holidays.
Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle today welcomed Julian to the Club:

“There’s no doubt that his knowledge of the Club as a former player and Huddersfield-born man will be an asset, but his appointment is down to far more than that. During the interview process, Julian was the standout candidate because of the experience, knowledge and expertise he will bring.
“This is a very exciting time thanks to the energy David Wagner has brought to the pitch together with our Season Ticket offer and Julian is the right man to lead the Club into its next chapter.”
Born in Huddersfield, Julian came through Town’s youth system as a player and went on to make 87 starts and six substitute appearances for the Terriers between 1984 and 1987, scoring five times. He played the majority of his football in the division now known as the Championship under Mick Buxton, Steve Smith and Malcolm Macdonald, as well as under Eoin Hand in the old Division Three.
After a spell on loan at Scunthorpe United in the 1988/89 season, Julian moved to Sheffield United and unfortunately suffered a career-ending injury during his first pre-season at Bramall Lane. After hanging up his boots, he studied a degree in Leisure and Recreation Management at Sheffield Hallam University.
Julian subsequently joined Watford in April 2006 as Community Director, overseeing the Club's award-winning Community Sports & Education Trust, before moving to become Deputy CEO for the Hornets.
Julian became Watford’s new Chief Executive in 2008, eventually departing the Club in June 2011 upon the arrival of new owners. Three months later, Julian was appointed the Chief Executive of League 1 Sheffield United as Chief Executive in September 2011. During his time he oversaw a search for new investment, which came to fruition two years later. He finally departed the South Yorkshire club in December 2013
Most recently, Julian was appointed Notts County’s new CEO in October 2015, but it was announced he had resigned from that role on Thursday.
