Academy graduate nets in defeat to Romania
- Jake Charles scores first Wales U21 goal- Town winger earns sixth cap as a substitute
- Academy graduate will now return to Huddersfield
Huddersfield Town winger Jake Charles scored his first goal for the Wales Under-21 side in Romania on Tuesday evening.
The 20 year-old Academy graduate, who qualifies for Wales through his parentage, came on as a substitute in the 56th minute of the game and went on to score his first at Under-21 level on his sixth appearance.
Unfortunately, Geraint Williams’ side was two goals down when Jake scored late on in Medias and eventually lost 2-1; a first defeat in its Euro Under-21 2017 qualifying group five campaign.
The winner of group five will advance to the final tournament, which will be held in Poland in June 2017, whilst the group runner-up would reach the Play-Offs if it is one of the top four from the nine groups.
Jake - who made his sole First Team appearance for Town as a substitute at home to Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship in March 2015 - will now return to Huddersfield.
