David Wagner’s First Team squad will travel to Oldham Athletic for their fourth pre-season friendly of the 2016/17 season on Saturday, which kicks off at 3pm at SportsDirect.com Park.

The home side will be eager to impress new boss Steve Robinson after he was confirmed as the Latics new manager last week.

The opposition

Oldham finished 17th in League 1 last season under the guidance of John Sheridan, who left for League 2 side Notts County in May.

This will be Oldham’s first pre-season friendly of the season after recently appointing former Northern Ireland Assistant Manager Steve Robinson.

The match will also see new Town ‘keeper Joel Coleman face his former side as he joined from this weekend’s opponents last month for an undisclosed fee.

Oldham players to watch

Midfielder Lee Croft will be recognised by Town fans after his brief loan spell at the John Smith’s Stadium in the 2010/11 season. The 31 year-old made three appearances under former Town manager Lee Clark before returning to Derby County.

New signing Josh Law will add experience to the Latics defence. Since 2014 the full back made over 70 appearances for the Scottish Premiership club.

A youngster who could have an impact for Oldham is Danny Byrnes. The winger impressed in Oldham’s youth setup last season and will be looking to break into their First Team this year.

Oldham Signings

Following the appointment of Robinson, Oldham have made six new signings as they begin to prepare for the 2016/17 League 1 season.

When the former Northern Ireland boss took over he only five contracted players with First Team experience and was quick to move in the transfer market upon his arrival.

Robinson’s first signing was former Motherwell full back Josh Law, which was closely followed by Connor Ripley who joined on a year-long loan from Middlesbrough. The goalkeeper was on loan at Motherwell last season.

Another goalkeeper Chris Kettings has joined from Crystal Palace while Luke Woodland has signed on a sixth-month contract.

Former Wolves youngster Jamie Reckord has joined to strengthen the Latics defensive options and striker Lee Erwin has signed on a year-loan from Leeds United.
