Huddersfield Town’s Development Squad midfielder Ben Holmes has today joined Hyde United on a Youth Loan until 30 May 2016 inclusive.

The 19 year-old central midfielder joined Town’s Academy from Heyside Juniors in July 2010, graduating into the professional ranks during the summer of 2014.

Hyde United currently plays in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier; one tier below the Vanarama National League North.

Managed by Gary Lowe, The Tigers sit 15th in the table with 32 points from 26 games

Former Huddersfield Town player and Coach Martyn Booty is Hyde’s current Assistant Manager, whilst the squad includes former Town Academy players Spencer Harris, James Burke and Shane Killock.

This will be Ben’s third loan spell away from Huddersfield Town and his second at Hyde United. He spent two months at the Club during the 2014/15 season before a move to Vanarama National League North club AFC Fylde this term.

On top of that, Ben has made three starts and five substitute appearances for Town’s Under-21 side this season.

Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn told htafc.com:

“Ben has been told that his current contract, which runs out at the end of the season, will not be extended, so this loan move gives him a good opportunity to showcase his ability and secure another club.

“Ben is a player who has worked hard during his two years as a professional and throughout his time in the Academy.

“We have other midfield players in the Under-21 Squad in the central midfield area as well as a number pushing to make the step up from the Under-18 side. We need to give those players opportunities and time on the pitch for their development, so again this move suits everyone.”
