REMINDER: NO SMOKING INSIDE THE STADIUM

19 February 2016

Comments from Ann Hough

Ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game against Wolves, the John Smith’s Stadium and Huddersfield Town would like to remind fans that smoking is not permitted in the internal areas of the ground.

In July 2007, a law came into force banning smoking in all internal areas and work places in England. In light of this and as a direct result of The Health Act 2006 and Football League policy, a smoke free policy has been implemented on match days.

This is re-iterated via signage within the John Smith’s Stadium to inform all parties of the smoke free status, as well as smoke alarms in the internal areas.

Huddersfield Town’s Operations Director Ann Hough explained:

“Over the course of the last few home fixtures, the Club and the John Smith’s Stadium has received feedback from supporters on this subject and we felt it prudent to remind supporters that smoking is not permitted in the internal areas of any stand in the John Smith’s Stadium.

“We would also ask supporters to take their fellow fans into consideration on this matter, as it has long been demonstrated second-hand smoke causes damage to health.

“Thanks to everyone for their support in this matter.”
