LOAN: BRIGHTON’S ELVIS MANU JOINS HTAFC

1 February 2016

Powerful attacker joins until 2 May 2016

- Elvis Manu joins Huddersfield Town on loan
- Netherlands U21 cap arrives from Brighton
- Reaction from Head Coach David Wagner

Huddersfield Town has today completed the signing of attacker Elvis Manu on an Emergency Loan until 2 May 2016 inclusive.

A powerful, right footed winger, Manu has played mainly from the left side but can also play on the right or as a striker.

Born to Ghanaian parents in Dordrecht, the 22 year-old has been capped by the Netherlands up to Under-21 level.

Brighton & Hove Albion has the ability to recall Elvis after the first 28 days of the Emergency Loan.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner explained Elvis’ arrival at the Club:

“I’ve talked a lot during this winter window about bringing players to the Club who would help us in the long term but when it became clear that our targets were not available in this window, we moved down a different road to help for the rest of the season.

“I like what I have seen of Elvis from his time at Feyenoord and Brighton; I believe his qualities will fit with our ideas. I’m sure he can help us out this season.

“He also gives me another option in the number seven, 11 and nine slots, which it is important to have for the rest of the season.”

A graduate of the Feyenoord Academy, Elvis turned professional in 2012 and played a handful of games for the First Team before two loan spells. At second tier Excelsior he scored nine goals in 21 appearances, before five goals in 15 appearances for top flight SC Cambuur in 2013/14.

Elvis broke into Feyenoord’s First Team last season, playing regularly in the Eredivisie, Champions League and Europa League. In total, he scored 12 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions.

On 29 August 2015 Manu joined Sky Bet Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, signing a three year deal

He has subsequently made one start and eight substitute appearances for the Seagulls. He was an unused substitute when Town lost 2-1 at the Amex Stadium on 23 January.
