Forward returns to the Terriers

- Jordy Hiwula recalled by Huddersfield Town
- Striker's loan spell at Wigan Athletic ended
- Hiwula got 6 Latics goals in 9 starts & 7 sub apps

Striker Jordy Hiwula has today been recalled from his Standard Loan at Wigan Athletic by Huddersfield Town.

The 21 year-old, who was signed by Town in the summer from Premier League club Manchester City, will train with the squad at PPG Canalside on Tuesday and will be available for selection by Head Coach David Wagner for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at Preston North End.

Having made one substitute appearance in the Capital One Cup for Town during Chris Powell’s tenure as Manager, Jordy joined League 1 club Wigan on 27 August 2015 and has scored six goals in nine starts and seven substitute appearances.

During the 2014/15 season, Jordy scored nine goals in 17 starts and two substitute appearances on loan at League 1 Walsall.

Huddersfield Town’s Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I would like to thank Wigan Athletic for working with Jordy; it has been good for him to get more experience of football. However, I think now is the right time for him to come back to us.

“I have watched him play for Wigan and he has interesting qualities. I prefer to work with players owned by our Club so they can learn our ideas and this is a good first opportunity for me to get a good picture of how able Jordy is to apply our game on the pitch.

“Joe Lolley is a good example for Jordy; he came back from a loan, showed us his quality and showed that he is able to develop with us.

“Jordy also gives us another option in our attacking positions, either as the number nine or in the wide areas. He will get the opportunity to play here because we now have the space in our squad - and he will allow me to make good choices to keep our players fresh in our system.”
