LOAN: REKEIL PYKE RETURNS TO HTAFC

28 December 2016

Three appearances in Vanarama National League for youngster

- Rekeil Pyke's Wrexham loan ends
- Striker made three appearances for the Welsh side
- Development Squad back in action on 9 January

Development Squad striker Rekeil Pyke has today returned to Huddersfield Town after his loan spell at Wrexham AFC.

The 19 year-old forward made one start and two substitute appearances for the Vanarama National League side during his month in Wales, which was disrupted slightly by injury.

His start came on the first day of his loan spell as Manager Dean Keates put him straight into the side for a tough game at high-flying Lincoln City. The Red Dragons lost 1-0 on the evening, with Rekeil playing 90 minutes and having a couple of headers fly just wide.

Rekeil came on as a substitute in the next game, playing the second half in a 3-0 home reversal at the hands of Macclesfield Town.

He subsequently missed an FA Trophy defeat at the hands of Tranmere Rovers due to an ankle knock sustained in the previous game, but returned to the bench for a 1-0 league defeat at Sutton United, playing the final half hour.

The final game of Rekeil’s loan spell was a 1-0 home victory over Southport on Boxing Day, when he was an unused substitute as Wrexham ended a six-game winless streak.

This was a first loan move for the Academy graduate, who first joined the Club at Under-12 level from local side Rothwell Juniors.

He has previously been a regular for Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn’s Under-21 side this season, scoring five goals in 14 starts in the Professional Development League and Premier League Cup.

Rekeil also played for David Wagner’s First Team in the pre-season friendlies against Liverpool FC, FC Ingolstadt 04 and Oldham Athletic.

Bunn’s Town Under-23s are back in action on 9 January with a Professional Development League game at Sheffield United. For a full set of fixtures, click HERE.
