- Free photography & ICT course for over-50s
- 'Click & Connect' course starts in January 2016
- Hosted by the Huddersfield Town Success Centre

Are you feeling a little left behind by the latest digital technology? Do you want to develop your ICT skills? If so the ‘Click to Connect’ course that starts in January at Huddersfield Town Success Centre should be right up your street.

The project will enable participants to sharpen up their computer and digital media skills by focusing on photography. The scheme is open to over 50s of all abilities, with a mixed menu of activities being on offer. Participants will be able to learn how to effectively use a digital camera. The focus of this part of the course will not only be the practicalities of digital camera usage but also composition and image manipulation.

The main theme of the project, however, will be to use photos as the basis for learning more about other related computer skills such as email, the internet, social networking or even the very basics of how to use a mouse, keyboard, write text, manage files, and use design software. Participants will thus be able to use photography as a focus for brushing up on their basic computer skills.

As well as spending time in the Success Centre classroom, learners can also spend some time out and about in the community - taking photos! The course will therefore not merely involve sitting at a computer, but will enable participants to socialise with likeminded people of a similar age in a relaxed, friendly, ‘camera club’ style environment.

The course is free of charge for all, and is funded through the Big Lottery ‘Awards for All’ funding stream.

The project will take place on Monday mornings (beginners) from 10am to noon and Monday afternoons (intermediate) from 1pm to 3pm. Each course will last for 10 weeks, starting on Monday 16 January. Learners may use their own equipment. Otherwise cameras will be provided.

To enrol on the course or for more information ring Mike Mawson 01484 234153 or email mike.mawson@htafc.com.

Huddersfield Town Success Centre is a schools and community focused educational centre jointly managed by Huddersfield Town and Kirklees Learning and Sport Community Interest Company and is based in the classroom in the Fantastic Media Stand at The John Smith’s Stadium.
