TEAM NEWS: TOWN vs BARNSLEY

20 August 2016

David Wagner makes three changes to his Town XI

- David Wagner makes three changes for Barnsley
- Dean Whitehead makes his first appearance of 2016/17
- Nahki Wells & Sean Scannell also start against the Tykes

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner has made three changes to his starting XI for today’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Barnsley; 3pm kick-off at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The first sees Dean Whitehead make his first competitive appearance of the 2016/17 campaign following his three match suspension and a stint as an unused substitute at Aston Villa on Tuesday night. The 34 year-old takes the place of Jonathan Hogg, who is among the substitutes.

The second change sees reigning Player of the Year Nahki Wells make his seasonal home debut. As he did at Newcastle United last weekend, he replaces Jack Payne in the line-up.

Wagner’s final switch is enforced due to the foot injury sustained by Joe Lolley at Villa Park in midweek. He drops out of the squad and his place on the right wing is taken by Sean Scannell, who makes his first Championship start of the season this afternoon.

Tommy Smith makes the 100th start of his career in the Sky Bet Championship today, whilst Harry Bunn – back on the bench after his pre-season hamstring injury – is set to make his 100th league appearance if he comes on today.
