Three changes to Town’s starting XI

- Three changes to Town's starting XI
- Cranie, Stanković & Scannell come in
- Nahki Wells returns to the bench too

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner has made three changes to his starting XI for tonight’s EFL Cup Round One game at Shrewsbury Town; 7.45pm kick-off at the Greenhous Meadow.

One of these changes has handed a competitive debut to centre back Jon Gorenc Stanković (pictured), who in turn becomes the first ever Slovenian to play for the Terriers.

The 20 year-old centre back takes Mark Hudson’s place in the line-up; he drops out of the squad completely tonight.

With Hudson watching from the stands this evening, midfielder Jonathan Hogg will wear the captain’s armband.

The second change see Martin Cranie come into the team at right back to replace Tommy Smith; Tommy is among the substitutes tonight.

Following his impressive display as a substitute in the Sky Bet Championship win over Brentford on Saturday, Sean Scannell also comes in at the expense of Joe Lolley.

Despite being substituted with a dead leg at the weekend, goalscorer Elias Kachunga is fit enough to lead the line tonight.

There is also a welcome return to the bench for reigning Player of the Year Nahki Wells, who has trained for a week without issue following a knee problem during pre-season.

Wagner is still without the services of Dean Whitehead (suspension), Philip Billing (ankle), Harry Bunn (hamstring) and Joe Murphy (shoulder).
