Huddersfield Town’s red Ray Wilson tribute kit has been the most popular third kit in the Club’s history.
Town’s third kit that commemorates Ray Wilson and the 1966 England World Cup winning side has been a big hit with fans as it continues to flock off the shelves.
David Wagner’s First Team will wear the new kit as they travel to St James’ Park this weekend to face Newcastle United for their first away game of the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season.
The shirt features former Town full-back Ray Wilson’s signature; once below the white Huddersfield Town badge and once on the back just below the round neck collar above the Northern Commercials sponsor.
The front of the shirt includes the sublimated red Covonia sponsor and a white Puma. The shorts are white with a red stripe down the side paying homage to the memorable England 1966 kit, while the socks are red. As per the home and away kits the back of the shorts features the logo of new sponsor Develop.
Fans can still purchase ‘Wilson 66’ on the back of their third kit shirts with £10 being donated to an Alzheimer's charity.
Huddersfield Town’s Retail Manager Luke Cowan said:
“We are delighted with how well the third kit has sold so far, it’s been a very busy month for the retail department.
“Fans have told us this is their favourite ever Town third kit and we can see that by the sale, it’s the best-selling third kit in the Club’s history!
“I think it pays a real tribute to Ray Wilson and his family and shows how much Huddersfield Town fans respect him and the rest of the England squad to lifted the World Cup in 1966.”
