CONTRACT EXTENSION: JONATHAN HOGG

2 August 2016

Hoggy staying until 2019

- Jonathan Hogg signs HTAFC contract extension
- Midfielder commits his future until 2019
- Comments from Head Coach David Wagner

Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg has today signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Club for the next three seasons.

The Club took its option to extend the 27 year-old’s previous contract by a further season at the conclusion of 2015/16, but the player has now put pen to paper on a new three year contract that will keep him at HTAFC until the summer of 2019, with the Terriers having the option to extend into the 2019/20 campaign.

Jonathan joined Town on a three year contract from Watford for an undisclosed fee on 29 July 2013 and has gone onto make 82 starts and six substitute appearances for the Club in all competitions, scoring once.

He has been a regular during Head Coach David Wagner’s tenure at Huddersfield Town, playing 16 times for the former USA international before his season was prematurely ended due to a knee injury sustained against Ipswich Town in late February 2016.

Hogg has since recovered from that injury to play regularly during the Club’s 2016/17 pre-season campaign.

Huddersfield Town’s Head Coach David Wagner explained:

“It’s very good news for Huddersfield Town that ‘Hoggy’ has extended his stay by signing this new contract, as he is a player who embodies our ‘Terriers Identity’ as much as any other.

“As I said at the end of last season and all summer, keeping our talented players at the Club is just as important as recruiting new ones and it’s great that Jonathan’s long term future is at Huddersfield.

“His tenacity on the pitch is a great example to any player, his fitness is second-to-none and he is a good character as well. I believe the identity we have brought to the team since November suits his abilities and I expect him to be an important player in the coming season.”
