AARON MOOY CALLED UP BY AUSTRALIA

17 August 2016

Two internationals during the upcoming international break

- Aaron Mooy receives call-up to Australia squad
- Midfielder set to face Iraq & UAE in World Cup qualifiers
- Man City loanee already has 16 senior caps

Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy has been called up to the latest Australia squad for two upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

The Caltex Socceroos will face Iraq and the United Arab Emirates in the opening games of the 2018 FIFA World Cup final qualifying stage.

Mooy has been named in Coach Ange Postecoglou’s 23 man squad, which will face Iraq in Perth on 1 September before a second game against the UAE in Abu Dhabi on 6 September.

With the Sky Bet Championship taking an international break at this time, Mooy will have time to re-join the Terriers ahead of the game at Leeds United on 10 September.

Aaron, who already has 16 full caps and five goals for his country, has impressed in his first four games in a Town shirt; something that Australia’s coach is not surprised about.

“I’m happy he’s started the season well, but I’m not surprised,” said Postecoglou on Wednesday at the announcement of his squad.

“I thought he was the best player in the A-League last year and I’m not surprised he’s doing well over there. He’s adapted well and the way they play at Huddersfield seems to suit him.”
