Town goes into the game ninth in the PDL2 North table with 12 points from nine games, eight points behind first placed Crewe Alexandra.
Before the defeat to Cardiff, the U18s had won two games on the bounce beating Ipswich 4-1 at PPG Canalside and Brentford 2-1 away from home.
Away from PPG Canalside, the young Terriers have won two out of five games – losing the other three.
Weekend opponents Sheffield United currently sits seventh in the Professional Development League 2 North table with 15 points from nine games this season.
Managed by Travis Binnion, the Sheffield United youngsters will also look to get back to winning ways after a 1-0 home reversal at the hands of Charlton Athletic in midweek.
Before that, the Blades boasted a 100% home record - beating Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall in South Yorkshire this season.
The Professional Development League 2 is split into two regional divisions; North and South. Teams play each team in their own division twice and the other division once. The top two teams from each region meet then meet in the Play-Offs to determine the overall PDL2 champion.
