Huddersfield Town’s Development Squad defender Joe Wilkinson has today joined Hyde United on a Youth Loan until 14 November 2015 inclusive.

Huddersfield Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn commented:

“Joe is now at the stage in his development where we want to see how he copes outside his comfort zone, so this loan period is ideal. We’ll monitor his performances very closely during the initial month, during which Hyde has an amazing nine games.

“We have a number of defenders that play in Joe’s position within the Development Squad at the moment too, so this frees up the space for the likes of Danny Kane, Fraser Horsfall and Jacob Hanson to play regularly at Under-21 level.”

Hyde United currently plays in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier following relegation from the Vanarama National League North last season.

Managed by Gary Lowe, The Tigers currently sit 19th in the league table with 14 points from 12 games ahead of tonight’s game at Whitby Town; a fixture Joe is eligible to play in.

Joe is the third player to join Hyde on loan from Town in as many seasons; goalkeeper Ed Wilczynski and midfielder Ben Holmes both spent time at Ewen Fields last term.

Former Huddersfield Town player and Coach Martyn Booty is the Club’s current Assistant Manager, whilst the squad includes former Town Academy players Spencer Harris, James Burke and Shane Killock.

The 19 year-old centre back joined Town’s Academy from local junior club Dewsbury Rangers in March 2007 and graduated into the professional ranks during the summer of 2014.

In his first full season as a professional, Joe was handed his First Team debut by Manager Chris Powell - starting the final home game of the 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship campaign at right back against Blackburn Rovers.

This season he has made six starts for the Club's Under-21 side, scoring once.

Town's next home game vs MK Dons on 20 October is just £10 at the gate for adults!
