JED STEER LOAN EXTENDED

15 October 2015

Goalkeeper’s stay with the Terriers extended

- Jed Steer's loan at Huddersfield Town extended
- Aston Villa goalkeeper staying until 11 November
- Reaction from HTAFC Manager Chris Powell

Huddersfield Town has today extended the Emergency Loan spell of Jed Steer from Aston Villa until 11 November 2015 inclusive.

Initially brought in for one month on 11 September as a result of a calf injury to Joe Murphy, the 23 year-old goalkeeper has subsequently started all five Sky Bet Championship games – including the Club’s back-to-back wins in 2015/16 at Charlton Athletic and against Bolton Wanderers.

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell explained:

“Joe Murphy is returning from his calf injury and is in full training, but has only played for 45 minutes in last week’s behind-closed-doors friendly at Manchester City during the last month. We need to be careful not to bring him back too early. As a result, I believe extending Jed’s loan was the right thing to do.

“Jed has performed very well for us during his month at the Club. He’s looked right at home in his first games in the Championship and I believe he’s deserved at least one clean sheet, if not more.

“Waiting to extend Jed’s loan until this point maximises the number of games that he can play now the international break has ended.”

This extension makes Jed eligible for the Club’s next six Sky Bet Championship games, beginning with Saturday’s away fixture at Ipswich Town and ending with the West Yorkshire derby at home to Leeds United on 7 November.

Admission to Town’s next home game vs MK Dons on 20 October is just £10 adults at the gate!
