HUWS ON ‘PLAYER OF THE MONTH’ SHORTLIST

8 October 2015

Midfielder up for divisional accolade

- Emyr Huws on shortlist for Championship Player of the Month
- HTAFC midfielder up against Daniel Ayala, Nick Blackman & Jordan Rhodes
- Winner announced at 6am on Friday morning

Huddersfield Town’s Emyr Huws has been named on a four man shortlist for the Sky Bet Championship September Player of the Month award.

The midfielder is up against Middlesbrough centre back Daniel Ayala; Reading’s in-form forward Nick Blackman and former Town striker Jordan Rhodes, now of Blackburn Rovers.

The winner will be announced at 6am on Friday morning.

The Terriers played four games during September, with Huws making a massive impact.

Having joined the Club on a Standard Loan from Wigan Athletic in late August, the Welshman made his debut in the month-opening defeat at Cardiff City as a second half substitute; that was his first competitive appearance in seven months after injury.

Emyr then scored on his first start for the Club; a superb free kick in the important 2-1 win at Charlton Athletic.

His home debut was even better just four days later, when Emyr scored a brace in the 4-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Huws’ month also ended with a bang, with him netting a deflected long range equaliser in the 1-1 home stalemate with Nottingham Forest in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

This nomination is the latest in a string of accolades for Huws. The midfielder won the Club’s Blue & White Foundation September Player of the Month award for his performances, which have also earned him a recall to Chris Coleman’s Wales squad for two upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Town's next home game against MK Dons on 20 October is just £10 for adults at the gate!
