CHRIS POWELL LEAVES HUDDERSFIELD TOWN
4 November 2015
Chris Powell has today left his role as Manager of Huddersfield Town with immediate effect after his contract was ended by the Club.
Assistant Manager Alex Dyer will also depart the Club at the same time.
Huddersfield Town Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens issued the following statement:
“We have decided to make this change after very careful deliberation. It is made with the long term interests of the Club in mind. It signals a change of direction by the Club and a new approach.
“Chris worked to represent Huddersfield Town to the best of his ability; to develop us, improve us and take us forward. He now leaves us well placed for the future challenges ahead.
“With his skills and qualities as a person, it won’t be too long before Chris finds a new challenge and we wish him success when that comes.
“We would like to thank Chris and Alex and give them our best wishes for the future.”
Academy Manager Mark Lillis will now take charge of Huddersfield Town for the next game - the Yorkshire derby against Leeds United on Saturday 7 November 2015 - with the support of First Team Coach Steve Eyre and Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn. After that match, the Club faces a break for international fixtures.
A further announcement about the Club’s future plans will be made in due course.
