U21 FINAL AT SWANSEA ON WEDNESDAY

8 May 2015

PDL2 Play-Off to take place at the Liberty Stadium

Huddersfield Town will play at Swansea City’s Liberty Stadium in the Under-21 Professional Development League 2 Play-Off Final on Wednesday 13 May 2015.

The game will kick-off at 7.30pm, with the admission price confirmed as £1 at the gate.

Huddersfield Town was originally selected as the home side, but with the John Smith’s Stadium pitch undergoing extensive annual renovation the Club requested permission to host the game at a local Football League ground. This request was declined by competition organisers and the fixture will now be played in South Wales.

The Terriers made the final thanks to a 5-3 Play-Off semi-final extra-time win at Crystal Palace on Tuesday, highlights of which are below.

Hosts Swansea, who finished second in the Professional Development League 2 South table, defeated Nottingham Forest on a sudden-death penalty shootout on Wednesday evening.

The Terriers have beaten the Swans in their one meeting previously this season, with first year Academy scholar Jack Boyle’s brace and a Jack Senior goal gave Frankie Bunn’s side a 3-1 win at PPG Canalside.

This is the first time that Town’s Development Squad have reached the PDL2 Play-Off Final, having been knocked out at the semi-final stage in the previous two campaigns since the Under-21 league was formed upon the implementation of the Elite Player Performance Plan in 2012.
