WELLS NETS FOR FIVE-STAR BERMUDA
26 March 2015
Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells was among the goal-scorers as Bermuda started its 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign with a thumping 5-0 win at the Bahamas overnight.
Nahki, who captained Bermuda on the evening, scored his country’s second goal from the penalty spot in just the 14th minute.
Wells was also the victim of a challenge that saw the Bahamas’ Happy Hall sent off during the first-half as the Thomas Robinson Stadium in Nassau.
This was the first leg of a two legged qualifier against the Bahamas; the second leg will take place on Sunday 29 March at Bermuda’s National Sports Centre; 6pm kick-off UK time.
The next Town player set for action during the international break is loanee David Edgar, whose Canada side take on Guatemala on Friday evening; 8.30pm kick-off UK time in Fort Lauderdale, USA. Coincidentally, Guatemala would be Bermuda's next World Cup qualifying opponent in June if Wells and his teammates get past the Bahamas.
Town’s Development Squad duo Jake Charles and Joe Wright will be in action with Wales' Under-21 side next week.
