Massive junior football club tournament in May
Huddersfield Town’s PPG Cup – a huge tournament for junior football clubs held at PPG Canalside – is returning in May 2015!
Following on from the success of the inaugural PPG Cup in 2014, the junior tournament will once again give aspiring young footballers from across the region the chance to follow in the footsteps of the likes of James Vaughan, Jacob Butterfield and Nahki Wells by playing at the Club’s official training ground.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May 2015 and promises to be the biggest ever junior football tournament run by the Club. It will take the format of a six-a-side tournament for teams aged between seven and 14 (separate competitions on the Saturday and the Sunday), with all players receiving a medal for taking part and the winning team from under-9 upwards receiving a team trophy from a special Huddersfield Town guest!
The under-7 and 8 age groups will play four games each in a friendly tournament, with each player receiving a participation medal.
Alongside the main event, there will be a wide variety of activities to keep the whole family entertained. As well as the action on the pitch, there will be face painters on site for the younger spectators, the ever-popular ‘Terry the Terrier’ will make a special appearance, there will be refreshments available and Town's 'Football in the Community' department will have it’s speed gun to test attendees’ power! In addition to this the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will be on show for fans to have their photo taken with it and the ever popular Johnstone’s Paint Pot Challenge will be there for footballers to show off their skills.
