INTERNATIONAL CALLS FOR TOWN TRIO

18 March 2015

Wells, Wright & Charles named in squads

Three Huddersfield Town players have been named in their respective national squads for upcoming international matches.

Striker Nahki Wells has been named as Captain in Bermuda’s latest national squad, which is set to play a pair of World Cup qualifiers home and away against the Bahamas on 25 and 29 March.

Nahki has been capped six times by his country, scoring two goals against Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados in previous World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, two members of Town’s Development Squad – Joe Wright (pictured below) and Jake Charles – have received their first call-ups to Wales’ Under-21 squad for the opening game of its 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign.

The Welsh will host Bulgaria at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 31 March; the first game in a group that also includes Denmark, Armenia and Luxembourg.

Automatic qualification to the 2017 finals in Poland can be achieved by winning the group and four runners-up with the best record against the teams first, third, fourth and fifth in their groups will go into the Play-Offs.

Whereas this is a first Wales call-up for centre back Joe at any age level – he qualifies for Wales through his grandparents – Jake (below) has previously been capped up to Under-17 level.
