ACADEMY’S KANE ON AWARD SHORTLIST

11 March 2015

Danny a nominee for Irish U17 Player of the Year

Huddersfield Town Academy scholar Danny Kane has been named on a three man shortlist for the Football Association of Ireland’s Under-17 Player of the Year award.

Defender Kane, who joined Town from Cherry Orchard in February 2013, has been capped by his country at Under-17 level and is currently in the second year of his Academy scholarship with the Terriers.

He has been named as a nominee for Ireland’s Under-17 Player of the Year in the Three FAI International Football Awards, which will take place on Sunday 22 March 2015 at RTE studios, Donnybrook, Dublin.

The nominations were chosen by a panel from the Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland.

Also on the shortlist in Danny’s category are Adam McDonnell of Ipswich Town and Shane Elworthy of Fulham.

Having missed the start of the current season through injury, Danny has made nine appearances for Town’s Under-18s so far this season, scoring once.

He also recently made his first appearance of the campaign for Frankie Bunn’s Under-21 side in the 3-2 win at Birmingham City.
