PRE-SEASON CAMP IN SPAIN FOR FIRST TEAM

12 June 2015

Details of pre-season training camp for Powell and the squad

Huddersfield Town’s First Team will spend seven days in Spain on a pre-season training camp as part of the preparations for the 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship season.

Chris Powell’s senior squad will fly from Manchester Airport to Malaga on Sunday 12 July – a day after the first pre-season friendly at Guiseley.

Upon arriving at Malaga Airport, the Terriers will travel around 30 minutes to La Cala, which will be the base for the pre-season camp.

The site, which is located around 20 minutes from Marbella, boasts rooms, training pitches and other facilities.

The venue’s suitability for the pre-season work was checked in person by Town’s Head of Sports Science Al Stewart, who visited La Cala during March 2015.

The squad will return to England on Sunday 19 July, ahead of the next domestic pre-season First Team friendly at Grimsby Town on the evening of Tuesday 21 July.

Chris Powell’s team hopes to play two practise games during its seven day stint in Spain, which are still to be confirmed and are as yet not guaranteed to take place. Ideally, one of these will be open to the public. Further details of this will be confirmed when possible on htafc.com in due course.
