UNDER-21s AT EMLEY TONIGHT

Huddersfield Town’s Development Squad will play its regular pre-season friendly at AFC Emley this evening (Wednesday); 7.30pm kick-off at the Welfare Ground.

Frankie Bunn’s side will make the short trip to play the Northern Counties East League Division One team in the second Under-21 friendly open to the public ahead of the 2015/16 Professional Development League 2 season.

The young Terriers, who won last season’s meeting 2-0, go into the game on the back of a young side beating Radcliffe Borough in their first pre-season friendly last Friday thanks to a goal from Scottish striker Liam Coogans.

AFC Emley boss Darren Hepworth will hope that his team can earn a promotion this season after finishing fifth in the First Division in 2014/15 season.

His team will be led on the field by captain Michael Tunnacliffe, who was given the role after the departure of veteran Paul Sykes at the end of last season. Emley’s team has won two friendlies in pre-season so far with a 2-1 win against Shelley and a 3-2 win against AFC Emley ‘Kalcrest’.

On the field, alongside Tunnacliffe, is local lad Sam Jerome; a former Leeds United juniors and brother of Norwich City’s Cameron. He was voted Emley’s ‘Players’ Player of the Season’ in the 2013/14 season.

Hepworth is making a push for promotion with the signing of two new faces, Kieran Ryan and Tom Brennan. The two new additions are likely to be in action against Town on Wednesday.

There will be a few familiar faces in the Emley line-up too; former Town Academy players Mikey Starkey, Max Leonard (pictured below), Jordan Porter, Alex Hallam and Steven Kenworthy are among the Welfare Ground ranks.

Admission to the game at the Welfare Ground (HD8 9RE) is priced at £6 for adults and £3 for concessions.

If you can’t get to the game, there will be live in-game updates on Town’s official Twitter account - @htafcdotcom
