The 2015/16 season got under way at Huddersfield Town on Wednesday morning when the Club’s Development Squad players returned!

The Club’s pre-season preparations, sponsored by club partner Envy Fireplaces, started at the University of Huddersfield as the Under-21 players underwent a series of tests to establish their base fitness levels ahead of the new campaign.

htafc.com joined the 11.30am group of Jake Charles, Duane Holmes and the newly signed Callum Charlton to get a few pictures of what the testing process entails.

Each player took up one of three stations manned by a combination of Head of Sports Science Al Stewart, First Team Strength & Conditioning Coach Dan Hughes, the Academy’s Lead Sports Scientist Stuart Heaviside and Sports Scientist Callum Adams.

The team took a combination of height, weight and body fat measurements from the young players as well as testing their movements in a series of exercises.

All this is designed to help the Sports Science teams build bespoke fitness programmes ahead of the 2015/16 season.

The First Team players will undergo the same testing procedures tomorrow (Thursday), as will every age group down to Town’s Under-8s over the course of the coming months.

Check out htafc.com tomorrow when we’ll have a video interview with Al Stewart explaining the testing in more detail!
