Lolley nets again in pre-season win

- First Team wins second successive pre-season friendly
- Joe Lolley and an own goal give Terriers win in Spain
- Huddersfield Town debuts for Jordy Hiwula & Kyle Dempsey

Chris Powell’s First Team defeated Sky Bet League 2 side Leyton Orient in the side’s second pre-season friendly of the 2015/16 campaign in La Cala, Spain on Saturday morning.

In a game played at 9.30am UK time to try and avoid the intense Spanish sunshine, the Terriers built on the pre-season victory at Guiseley with a goal in each half against the Londoners.

Powell again opted to field two totally different XIs in each half, with newest recruits Jordy Hiwula and Kyle Dempsey getting debuts and trialist centre back Martin Cranie getting another 45 minutes.

Town had the better of the first-half, but clear-cut chances were few and far between until the deadlock was broken in the 39th minute. Like at Guiseley a week ago it was Joe Lolley who netted, cutting inside from his favoured right flank and firing home superbly from the corner of the penalty area.

The second goal followed in the 67th minute, with former Carlisle man Dempsey at the heart of it. When the midfielder drifted out wide and delivered a dangerous cross into the area, Orient’s number six turned the ball past his own goalkeeper in his attempt to clear.

Sean Scannell went as close as anyone to netting the third goal of the game, hitting the post with an effort in the final minutes of the encounter.

The Terriers will now return from the week-long pre-season training camp in Spain on Sunday ahead of Tuesday night’s friendly at Grimsby Town.

Reaction to the game from Manager Chris Powell will follow later today on htafc.com!
