Deportivo has a rich history in Spain, winning La Liga once in 2000 and finishing runners-up on five separate occasions. Twice winners of the Spanish Cup – most recently in 2002 – the Club also reached the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League in 2004.

Most recently, the team finished 16th in La Liga in the 2014/15 season. The Club’s current Head Coach is former Spain international midfielder Victor Sanchez, who was appointed in April 2015.

Recognisable names in the Depor squad include former Tottenham Hotspur striker and Portuguese international Helder Postiga and fellow forward Oriol Riera, who played for Wigan Athletic last season.

This game is the latest in a succession of pre-season showpieces against big-name Spanish sides, following on from home games against FC Barcelona B in 2012 and Real Betis in 2013.
