Dudley Martin takes new role at HTAFC

Dudley Martin has today been appointed as Huddersfield Town’s Club Chaplain – a new role at the Club.

As Club Chaplain, Dudley’s primary role at the Club is to aid the welfare and care of the players and staff – as Operations Director Ann Hough explained:

“Everyone at Huddersfield Town is very happy to welcome Dudley to the Club.

“Chaplains can be a big asset to professional sports clubs. Dudley can be a big help to players and staff of all faiths and beliefs during times of crisis, need or difficulty, allowing people be listened to as individuals and tackle the challenges of life.

“Dudley has already been a very active presence around the training ground and we’re all looking forward to getting to know him in due course.”

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell added:

“During my career, I’ve had times when Club Chaplains have been a great help and so I’m delighted to welcome Dudley to Huddersfield Town.

“Having met him he seems like a great person, perfectly suited to the role. I’m looking forward to getting to know him better over time.”

Dudley, who has considerable experience in providing pastoral support through crisis situations and is involved in workplace chaplaincy, commented:

“That Huddersfield Town is appointing a Chaplain demonstrates a real commitment to the care and welfare of players, staff and their families. I am delighted at having been invited to join the team and am bowled over by the warm welcome and support already extended.”
