Town Chief Executive and Head of Football Operations meet with fans
The Huddersfield Town Patrons Club were given a special opportunity to speak and question Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens and Head of Football Operations Ross Wilson at the latest meeting of the 2014/15 season at PPG Canalside last Thursday night.
Nigel and Ross spent two and a half hours speaking and sharing the inner workings of the Club with the fans – discussing a wide range of topics.
Ross gave a real insight in to his role at the Club, going in to great detail about how the Terriers go about their business regarding player recruitment. This ranged from the scouting structure and process for a potential new signing, to how the deal is sealed. Foreign scouting, role of agents, networks were also discussed and the Patrons learnt how Martin Paterson’s January move to Orlando City came about.
In terms of transfers the duo also discussed the need to have good relationships with other Clubs including Liverpool, which has allowed them to bring in the likes of Jack Robinson and Conor Coady.
Matters on the field were also a hot topic for discussion and they explained how the situation regarding James Vaughan's surprising return to the pitch vs Wigan following his facial injuries at Middlesbrough developed.
They talked about the impact of social media on the Club, newspaper speculation about players and even paper gossip about Wilson himself!
The Club would like to thank all those who attended the meeting; the third of the season after Chairman Dean Hoyle in September 2014 and Manager Chris Powell in November 2014.
The next Patrons meeting will be on 12 March at PPG Canalside starting at 7.30pm with guests yet to be confirmed.
