LOAN UPDATE: TWO DEPART, ONE RETURNS

29 December 2015

An update on three loans at ‘The Yorkshire Club’

- Elliott Ward returns to AFC Bournemouth
- Head Coach David Wagner comments on Jed Steer
- Goalkeeper Ed Wilczynski returns to HTAFC

Two players have departed Huddersfield Town and one player has returned at the conclusion of three Emergency Loan deals over the festive period.

Goalkeeper Jed Steer’s Emergency Loan from Premier League Aston Villa ended after the 3-1 Boxing Day win over Preston North End. His three spells at Town added up to the maximum 93 days permitted under Emergency Loan rules.

Over the course of three months, Jed made 16 starts for the Club – keeping four clean sheets in the wins over MK Dons, Birmingham City and Rotherham United, plus one in the draw at Ipswich Town.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“A decision on another goalkeeper is something we are discussing for when the winter window is open.

“If we make the decision that we’d like to react, then Jed will of course be one of the first goalkeepers I have in my head. He did very well when he was here, he knows everybody and the style we like to play.”

Meanwhile, centre back Elliott Ward’s Emergency Loan from Premier League AFC Bournemouth came to an end after yesterday’s 1-1 draw at QPR.

Elliott made five starts for the Club during September and October before being sidelined with a knee injury, after which he returned to Huddersfield on 7 December. However, Elliott did not feature in any of Head Coach David Wagner’s squads.

The final move sees 21 year-old goalkeeper Ed Wilczynski return to the Club from his Emergency Loan at Hyde United. In total, the Academy graduate made 10 starts for the Tigers.

The Club still has four loanees in the squad; Ben Chilwell is on Emergency Loan from Leicester City expiring 2 January 2016, whilst Emyr Huws, Jamie Paterson and Mustapha Carayol are on Standard Loans.

Town currently has five players out on loan at other clubs; James Vaughan is on Emergency Loan at Birmingham City; Jordy Hiwula (Wigan Athletic), Joe Wright (Accrington Stanley) and Liam Coogans (Queen of the South) are on Standard Loans and William Boyle is on a Youth Loan at York City.
