Centre back with the Terriers after return from injury
- Elliott Ward returns to Huddersfield Town
- Defender on loan from AFC Bournemouth
- Comments from Head Coach David Wagner
Elliott Ward has today returned to Huddersfield Town!
With Elliott nearing recovery from his injury, Huddersfield Town signed a new deal to bring the defender back to ‘The Yorkshire Club’ until 28 December 2015 inclusive ahead of the Emergency Loan deadline on Thursday 26 November.
The deal has been announced today ahead of Elliott re-joining training under new Head Coach David Wagner on Tuesday.
Town’s First Team has five Sky Bet Championship fixtures during the loan period.
David Wagner told htafc.com:
“I know that Elliott did well for the team in his original loan, so it is good that we can get him back and see him.
“Elliott is now available to train after his injury, so we have to get across our ideas to him like we have the other players over the last month and get him up to proper fitness. If we can do this, he can then help us on the pitch as we have a lot of matches to play until 28 December.”
The London-born central defender came through the ranks at West Ham before moving to Coventry in June 2006. He made 116 appearances over the course of his four year spell at Coventry which included loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Preston North End.
In June 2010 he signed for Norwich where he made 51 appearances including 12 in the Premier League in 2011/12. He then had two separate loan spells at Nottingham Forest where he featured in 31 Championship fixtures for them. He then signed for Bournemouth on an initial one-year contract in 2013. He has gone on to make 21 Championship appearances for them and was part of the squad that won the 2014/15 Championship title.
