HIWULA JOINS WIGAN ON LOAN

Huddersfield Town’s Jordy Hiwula has today joined Sky Bet League 1 side Wigan Athletic on a Standard Loan until 31 May 2016.

The 20 year-old, who plays predominantly as a centre forward but can also deployed out wide, joined ‘The Yorkshire Club’ in July 2015 on a contract running until 30 June 2018, with the Club having the option of a further season.

To date, his solitary appearance for Town’s First Team came as a 65th minute substitute in the Capital One Cup game against Notts County.

As per the terms of the loan, there is a recall available during January 2016.

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell explained:

“I believe this loan move will be an excellent one for Jordy’s continued development. We can’t offer him regular First Team football at this time - he is likely to be an impact player for us in the short term - so it is the best move for him to go and be able to play.

“Jordy is a player with excellent potential, which is why we brought him here in the summer. We’ve already seen that talent whilst working with him on the training field, but it’s sometimes difficult to put young players straight into the Championship.

“Wigan will expect to be challenging at the top of League 1 this season and Jordy can play a big part, so this is another step forward for him. We’ll monitor his progress at Wigan very closely; I’m sure he will do well and that is good for Wigan, for him and that will be good for us going forward.”

Jordy is the second player to go out on loan this week, following on from Murray Wallace’s Emergency Loan to League 1 Scunthorpe United.
