DEAN: WELL DONE SOUTH STAND!

19 August 2015

Praise for fans’ support and new ‘Cowshed’ in the South Stand

- Dean Hoyle praises all Town supporters
- Special praise for those in the 'Cowshed'
- Rallying call for continued backing

Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle has this morning praised all the Club’s supporters following last night’s 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

“Last night, I believe the fans made a big difference. Starting in the south end, the whole ground lifted and made for one of the most memorable atmospheres in recent memory. I know Jacob Butterfield said after the game that the players are all talking about it and it’s no surprise to me,” Dean told htafc.com.

This season is the first in the history of the John Smith’s Stadium where Season Card have been sold in the Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand and Dean reserved special praise for those in the ‘Cowshed’ who have backed the team from behind the goal.

Although Town fell behind after just 18 seconds against the Seagulls, the Chairman believes all the fans stuck right with Chris Powell’s side and played their part in the eventual comeback.

“So far, I think this initiative is doing everything it set out to when we first announced the changes for this year back in March.

“The great work that the ‘North Stand Loyal’ group started in the north end of the Stadium last year has continued during our first two league games and has made a fantastic improvement to the match day atmosphere, so thank you to everyone so far. You can tell the difference; it was louder and got the rest of the ground going too.

“The challenge now is to see that continue to improve. The Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand is open to home supporters again when QPR visits the John Smith’s Stadium on 29 August. It’s free to transfer into there from most stands.

"Supporters without a Season Card can also pay in advance or on the day at the gate.

“I hope to see even greater numbers in there to back the team next time.”

Transfer have to be made by contacting the Ticket Office before the match so the revised access can be loaded onto your Season Card and existing seats can be released for resale.

The initiative has come after many years of campaigning fans and following occasional trials on a match by match basis in Town’s recent seasons in League 1, when pay at the gate entry was permitted.

Following long-standing calls to have a ‘home end’ behind the goal and the initial south stand trials, a ‘home end’ was established in the Fantastic Media (North) Stand last season, driven through the formation of the ‘North Stand Loyal’ group.

Home fans have been housed in the south end of the ground for both of Town’s Sky Bet Championship home league games at the start of 2015/16; against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and during last night’s 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

In order to encourage the numbers in the Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand, HTAFC has waived all Season Card transfer fees for moves into stands where Season Card costs are lower. This means all transfers into the Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand from all stands except the Fantastic Media, until 31 December 2015, will be FREE.
