Looking for something to do on Good Friday? Come and watch Town’s Under-21 side host Nottingham Forest at PPG Canalside!
Frankie Bunn’s Development Squad hosts the Tricky Trees in a top of the table Professional Development League 2 North game in one of just five games left in the normal season.
The game, which will kick-off at 1pm at Town’s training ground, promises to be a cracker and is free to watch, although attendees will be asked to give a donation for a team-sheet that will go towards the ‘All Together Town’ fund (click HERE for full info).
Town’s Under-21 team comes into the match in second position in the division, on the back of three straight wins and five victories in six. Under-21 sides are permitted to use four overage players in each game – three outfielders and one goalkeeper – but the last three wins have come with none in the side.
The latest came on Monday at QPR’s Loftus Road, when Bunn’s youngsters won 4-1 thanks to goals from Fraser Horsfall, Duane Holmes, Rekeil Pyke and Flo Bojaj.

Forest’s form is even more impressive. A 0-0 draw at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday moved Jimmy Gilligan’s side eight points clear of the Terriers at the top of the table and made it 11 wins and three draws in the last 14 matches. Forest’s youngsters – who have played a game more than Town – haven’t tasted defeat at Under-21 level since 13 October 2014.
The two sides are in pole position for the two spots in the end of season Professional Development League 2 Play-Offs, when the top team from the northern section plays the southern runners-up and vice-versa. The two semi-final winners then play each other in the national final.
