A review of Saturday’s ‘Academy Game’ vs Derby
Huddersfield Town proudly threw the spotlight on its Academy at Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Derby County; the Club’s annual ‘Academy Game’.
The date of the game was particularly fitting, as Town’s Under-18 side won the Professional Development League 2 North title with a 3-2 win over Crewe Alexandra at PPG Canalside; click HERE for a match report!
Ahead of the First Team’s 3pm kick-off, Town’s Under-14 squad joined volunteers from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to hold a bucket collection in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign. Thanks to the generosity of Town fans, £886.59 was raised to be shared between the charity and the Academy!
The Under-9s had a special behind-the-scenes look around the John Smith’s Stadium on a match day, visiting the dressing rooms and taking part in a lap of the pitch pre-match. They are pictured at the top of this article.
Town’s Under-15 players proudly waved flags ahead of the game.
The Club’s Under-10 players showcased their skills in a mini game during the half-time interval.
After the Golden Gamble draw – the half-time draw that provides thousands of pounds in funding for the Academy – was made (click HERE for the results), the next set of scholars starting their two year apprenticeships with the Academy were introduced to the supporters.
