Midfielder signs first contract on 17th birthday

First year Academy scholar Regan Booty has signed his first professional contract with Huddersfield Town on his 17th birthday.
The Holmfirth-based youngster, who initially joined the Academy in the Under-9 age group, has put pen to paper on a long term deal.
A left footed midfield player Regan has largely been deployed as a central midfielder by Professional Development Coach Tony Carss in the Under-18s this season, but he can also play on the left side.
Having played an impressive 32 games for the Under-18s as an Under-16 player in the 2013/14 season, Regan has played another 24 games this term – scoring four goals.
Booty has also made a breakthrough into the Under-21 team, featuring 12 times for Frankie Bunn’s Development Squad, in the Professional Development League 2 where Town currently lie in second place, as a 16 year-old.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Mark Lillis explained:
“Regan has been at the Club as long as anyone at Academy level and its testament to all the coaches that have been involved in his development so far that he’s now signed his first professional contract.
“Real credit must also go to Regan. He’s has great attitude and possesses superb technical ability; he’s a set piece specialist and has a good eye for a pass.
“As with all his fellow scholars who will turn professional, the hard work has only just begun for Regan! He’ll continue to work under Frankie Bunn, Tony Carss and Leigh Bromby each day and, if he keeps progressing, the chance to succeed exists at this club.”
Regan becomes the third first year Academy scholar to sign a professional contract this season, following on from Rekeil Pyke (click HERE) and Jacob Hanson (click HERE).
