Carr & Gerrard score in Development Squad win

Anthony Gerrard’s goal from a full 60 yards out was the highlight from Town’s Professional Development League win over Millwall at PPG Canalside on Monday afternoon.

Playing as Town’s only overage outfielder, the centre back showed great quick thinking to secure the win for Frankie Bunn’s side after a lively performance in a competitive encounter between two young sides.

Striker Daniel Carr had put the Terriers in front just under 10 minutes into the game, heading home after a good move involving William Boyle down the Town left.

Joe Murphy played in goal for the home side and was only seldom called into action as the Terriers did most of the running in the opening 45 minutes and although Neil Harris’ Millwall kept the score-line tight, Gerrard put the game to bed late on with a pure strike of the ball that caught visiting ‘keeper Denzell Gerrar off his line.

Town’s team (4-4-2):
Joe Murphy; William Boyle (c), Anthony Gerrard, Joe Wright, Joe Wilkinson; Sondre Tronstad, Philip Billing (Ben Holmes, 60), Jordan Sinnott (Ben Atkinson, 60), Matt Crooks; Flo Bojaj (Ronan Coughlan, 70), Daniel Carr

Unused subs:
Ed Wilczynski, Jacob Hanson
