ACADEMY RECRUITING PART-TIME GOALKEEPING COACH

Huddersfield Town is looking to recruit a self-motivated, committed, confident and knowledgeable individual to join the Football Department in the position of Academy Part-Time Goalkeeping Coach.  

The role of Academy Part-Time Goalkeeping Coach is fundamental to the long term vision of Huddersfield Town in helping to identify and develop elite goalkeepers within the Club’s programme.

The role includes delivering the Goalkeeping Curriculum within the Foundation (9-11) and Youth Development (12-16) Phases.  

The successful applicant will plan and evaluate all sessions undertaken, be required to upload the information onto the Premier League Player Management Tool (PMA), as part of our ongoing coach mentoring programme and in line with ISO audit requirements.  

The successful candidate will be expected to work on specific weekdays, weekday evenings and at weekends covering both training and/or the games programme.

The successful candidate will be required to have good knowledge of the game through playing experience and preferably have previous experience of coaching at Academy level.  

All applicants under the EPPP guidelines must hold or be working towards the following mandatory qualifications:

FA B Licence Goalkeeping (or working towards this qualification)
UEFA B Licence (or working towards this qualification)
FA Youth Award Modules 1, 2, & 3 (or working towards these qualifications)
FA Level 2 Goalkeeping & Outfield
Basic First Aid for Sport
FA Safeguarding Children
Member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club

Purpose of role
To be responsible for the delivery of the Academy Goalkeeping Coaching Programme for the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase, and ensure that all Academy Goalkeepers receive the required hours of coaching on the field and additional education off the pitch, working with the Academy Head of Sports Science to agree on an suitable gym based programme and with the analytical staff to provide1:1  feedback on training and match performances.

Key relationships:
Internal -    All Academy Staff together with Club Staff in particular the Academy
                  Manager, HOGK, Operations Manager, The Senior Professional Development
                  Coaches & Head of Phases in the Foundation & Youth Development

External -   Regulatory Bodies (FA Premier League, Football League, Football
                  Association.  Goalkeeping Coaches at other Professional Football
                  Clubs

Overview & key tasks:
The Academy Part-Time Goalkeeping Coach shall:

Work closely with the Academy Manager, Head of Goalkeeping and Coaching staff to ensure the continuous development of all Academy goalkeepers registered with the Club.

Attend and assist, monitor and support the Academy goalkeepers in the games programme for the Youth Development Phase and Foundation Phase

Supervise and assist in the delivery of coaching sessions to players in the Youth Development Phase and Foundation Phase and be present at their coaching sessions this may include, day, evening and weekend sessions. 

Report monthly at the phase meetings to the Academy Manager and Head of Goalkeeping on the development and progression of all Academy goalkeepers registered with the Club. 

Ensure that the Academy goalkeepers are fully prepared for games and go through a robust review procedure working in conjunction with the analysis department but led by the Academy Goalkeeping Coach,

To ensure that where appropriate, and in line with our One Club approach, Academy processes are aligned to professional processes in terms of the education and development programmes for all Schoolboy goalkeepers.

To contribute to the recruitment process in the assessment of potential goalkeepers for consideration of signing for the club. 

Undertake continued professional development (CPD).

Be trustworthy and adhere to clubs code of conduct and ethics

Be flexible with hours of work

To co-operate with all other personnel in the Company in the fulfilment of their own duties as reasonably requested by the Chief Executive and Board of Directors.

Be in possession of an up to date UEFA B Licence and an FA Goalkeeping Coaching B Licence

Monitor and assist Goalkeepers in the Youth Development Phase and Foundation Phase in training matches including maintenance and performance clock/or other monitoring tools

Work with other coaches to develop the APP and in particular the coaching philosophy

Complete admin tasks as required to fulfill the role

Work closely with other members of the Academy team in delivery of the APP at Youth Development Phase and Foundation Phase 

Liaise closely with the HOGK to ensure the continuouse development work and pathway into the Professional Development Squad and U21 squads.

Contribute to parents evenings and maintain a relationship with the player and parent in the Youth Development Phase and Foundation Phase.

Display high standards of behavior and appearance and encourage the same from others 

Create a positive environment for player development

Provide genuine care for each player as an individual striving to develop a rapport and relationship based on mutual trust and club values and the Academy philosophy 

Proved a safe environment in which the player can learn without fear of abuse consistent with the clubs Education & Welfare philosophies   

Undertake other duties as directed by the Academy Manager or the Technical Board
