SCANZ HAILS FEEL-GOOD FACTOR

3 October 2014

Winger Sean on Town’s upturn in form

Town’s players were excellent to a man in their midweek away win, but there’s something about going to Wolves that seems to bring the best out of Sean Scannell.

The winger put in another great performance at Molineux on Wednesday night, netting his first goal of the season to extend Town’s lead and help seal the eventual win. That came on the back of a stunning strike at the same ground in April 2013 that grabbed Town’s ‘Goal of the Year’ award in 2013.

Although he is pleased to be back in the team and scoring, Sean told htafc.com that it was a team effort that sealed back-to-back wins – and that more of the same is required at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

“I don’t know what it is – I must like Molineux!” he joked.

“It was a good game on Wednesday. I thought our team shape was quality; although they got one goal, it made us hard to break down. You might not have thought that was going to be the case after the first 10 minutes, but after that we sorted ourselves out and I thought we did really well. I think Wolves is one of the best passing teams in the League at the moment as well.

“It felt good to be back in the team. This season I really want to kick on and do well. Obviously that might not be the case in every single game, but I know this Manager believes in me and I want to perform for him.

“I know I need to add more goals to my game, so it was nice to get off the mark in midweek; hopefully I can get a few more this season. Goals are my main target, but if I’m not the one scoring I want to be assisting – one or the other.

“It was always going to be a matter of time until things changed under the new Manager – it doesn’t just happen overnight. We’re still changing as a team now. There’s belief in the team now though; we believe in the Manager and he believes in us. That’s what you need to be a proper team – everyone has to be involved. That’s helping us get the results.

“If we play as well as we did at Wolves, we can go to Blackburn and get a win. We’ll go there and work hard for each other.”
