JONATHAN HOGG RELISHES WATFORD RETURN

2 May 2014

Midfielder looking forward to taking on old employers

Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg will return to Watford for the first time since his summer move and can’t wait to play against his former teammates.

Hogg made over 80 appearances for the Hornets with 43 of them coming last season when they reached the Play-Off final.

After suffering defeat to Crystal Palace, Watford have struggled to recreate the same form and will finish this season outside of the Play-Offs.

Speaking about the Hornets' season, Hogg said: “I think there is a bit of disappointment because of how well they did last season. There were high expectations ahead of this season in line with the Pozzo family’s plan, which was to bed the foreign players in last season and then push for the Premier League this term. In hasn’t happened though, so no doubt they will be looking to rebuild for next year.

“I speak with a few of the lads still, the likes of Sean Murray and Troy Deeney. I believe they have struggled in their last three games in which they have been beaten. No doubt their Gaffer will have them fired up on Saturday to show a response and go out on a high.”

The former Aston Villa youth player has made 36 appearances for Town this season and after missing a few games in late March, has returned to the heart of the Terriers’ midfield in the final few weeks of the season.

Looking ahead to his final appearance of the campaign, he said: “I am really up for the game. I can’t wait to play against some of my old teammates and kick a few of them up in the air,” he joked. “They will know that they are in a game. As a team we need to perform and give the fans something to get excited about; a win will leave people feeling happy.

“We have trained really well this week; all the boys were on it. We played a Round Robin competition and it was very competitive; everybody was flying around. It will be interesting going into the game because we have trained hard. We are really up for it and will get at them.”
